With the current situation of the world due to COVID-19, it makes traveling internationally quite difficult and in some cases, simply impossible. While we may not be able to travel internationally anytime soon, (safely) travel domestically. Luckily, there are so many beautiful places and cities to explore in the US.
Here are some charming U.S. cities to visit for a city vacation this summer:
San Francisco, California
San Francisco is a city where you are surrounded by nature. With the bay, the Pacific Ocean, parks and greenery scattered throughout the city, you can stop off for a nature break as you explore the city. It is a popular spot for nights out, dining out, live music, comedy clubs, and market days. While you’re here, be sure to check out the new San Francisco Bay Bridge, too!
Portland, Oregon
It is a popular spot for foodies and for those who love to be outdoors. It is also a spot known for having some of the best beer, particularly craft beer. There are over 65 breweries in the city and in summer the patio bars are a go-to. Be sure to visit the Portland Japanese Garden as well as Washington Park while you’re here. Rent a bike for the best way to get around the city.
Austin, Texas
Austin is locally titled the “Live Music Capital of the World”, and it definitely lives up to its title! There are live music venues all over the city, where you can find blues, jazz, rock, country and so much more. There is also incredible food including southern barbecue of course, including one of the most popular spots for brisket at La Barbecue. While you’re here, be sure to go swimming in Barton Springs!
Boston, Massachusetts
Boston is a city of two souls, historic and modern. Walking the three-mile Freedom Trail is a must to see some of the most notable historic sites here, including Boston Common. On a beautiful summer day, you can also spend some time at Arnold’s Arboretum (Harvard’s Tree Sanctuary) or head to the Hatch Shell for an outdoor movie.
Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville is known for its music scene, and more and more people are visiting here and loving their time in the city. While you’re here, check out some live music, head to rooftop bars, and eat and drink as you go.
Denver, Colorado
Denver is a city to go to if you want to get outside, visit some breweries, catch a show at the outdoor concert venue Red Rocks. Located just about 30 minutes away from incredible hiking, and about 60 miles from the
Rocky Mountains. So if you want a break from the city-goings, you can make your way to explore beautiful nature.
Charleston, South Carolina Charleston is a city that has Southern charm, incredible architecture, and wonderful restaurants. If you want a getaway where you can explore a charming city, head to the beaches, and walk along oak-lined streets,
Charleston is a great destination.
