Hey guys! With spring here in full bloom and summer on the way, I thought I would share with you a super simple DIY decor idea! In this DIY, I will show you how to make a beautiful palm leaf banner that can be made in minutes! I really hope you enjoy!
Materials Needed:
Step 1:
Depending on if you use real or fake palm leaves, separate each leaf whether that’s by cutting the best leaves from a real palm leaf bush, or simply pulling a fake bunch of them apart. I used a faux Tropical Palm Leaves bunch that I got at a Micheal’s Craft Store because I wanted mine to last longer!
Tip: If you plan on using REAL palm leaves, I highly suggest cutting the leaves, and making the banner as soon as you cut them, because they start to wilt and turn brown within 24 hours of cutting them.
Step 2:
Cut the stem to about an inch long in length. When using fake leaves, using a wire cutter will be so much easier because there’s usually a wire center withing each leaf. Cut as many as desired depending on how long you want your banner.
Tip: Don’t try to use basic scissors to cut the fake palm leaves, as it will ruin your scissors! Trust me on this one…
Step 3: (Optional)
Lightly spray paint the leafs any color you want! I chose to leave mine looking natural.
Step 4:
Cut the string to the desired length you want your banner. I cut around 7 feet of string. Start at one end of the string and make a loop, one to where when you pull it, it forms a knot.
Feed the stem of a palm leaf through and pull tight.
Continue making those loops and trying to space the palm leaves apart so that the banner looks even. And that’s it!
I hope you liked this super simple tutorial! Not only are these leaf banners perfect for Luau parties, weddings, and college dorm decor, but within minutes can add that touch of greenery to any home. Thanks for visiting!
