Hello everyone! With this year coming close to an end, I thought I would share a fun DIY that helps put those memories captured throughout the year on display. I’m sharing this tutorial because it is super quick, simple, and extremely affordable to make. Whether you are an experienced DIY-er or beginner, this is the project for you!
These photo displays add such an elegant, modern look for the home, parties, weddings, and all kinds of other occasions. Let’s get started!
Here are the things you will need to make the photo display:
- Hula Hoop
- Scissors
- Spray Paint (I used Rust-Oleum)
- Ribbon, lace, or twine or your choice
- Mini clothes pins, paper clips, or strong tape
- Hot Glue Gun with extra glue sticks
- Fake Flowers or other desired decor (optional)
- Artifact Uprising’s Square Print Set
Step 1: Spray Paint
In a well ventilated area, apply two light coats of spray paint on both sides of the hula hoop. Let dry for around 25 minutes.
Step 2: Measure, Cut & Glue
Depending on how big the hula hoop is, cut 3, 4 or 5 strips of lace, ribbon, or twine to the length of the hoop plus 1 inch longer so it can be glued and secured. Lay out the strips of ribbon making sure they are as straight as can be and hot glue them to the back side of the hoop.
It should look something like this. Make sure to pull the ribbon tight as you glue so the ribbons are taut and sturdy.
Step 3: Arrange Photos
Lay out the photos and arrange them to your liking. You can either use mini clothes pins, paper clips, strong tape, or a dab of glue on the back of each photo to hold them in place.
*Side note: I got my personalized photos from Artifact Uprising, a site that has all kinds of ways you can preserve your memories. My favorite way to capture and preserve my memories is through the Square Print Set, which is only $22 to print out your favorite pictures onto 25 high quality 5 x 5″ cards. I’m obsessed with how cute they are!
Step 4: Add Greenery (Optional)
Using real or fake flowers, you can decorate the hoop any way you like. Fresh flowers and greenery would look gorgeous at weddings, or other events to make the frame even more classy. I kept my hoop super simple without any decor for now but I might add some flowers in the future. We shall see!
And it’s finished!
Hang it up or hang it from the ceiling!
This hula hoop frame is seriously a perfect way to display Artifact Uprising photos, share your memories, and add some class to any space or event. Hope you enjoyed!
