Simple DIY: Glossy Dotted Nails

Hello!

Here is a really simple tutorial on how to achieve Glossy Dotted nails! This simple, yet chic nail design is perfect for those who want their nails to look amazing without much effort!

What you’ll need:

  • A clear base coat
  • Any Nail color you like
  • Matte top coat nail polish
  • A bent OPEN bobby pin or an actual nail dotting tool
  • clear glossy top coat

These are the brands I used, but you can use any brand you want!IMG_6598edited

Step 1: Add a base coat

I first applied a thin layer of Avon’s Nail Experts Base/Top coat to my nails. This step helps the nail polish adhere to the nail for a longer lasting manicure. It also helps prevent your nails from being stained from the nail color you are going to apply next.

Step 2: Apply Color

Apply 1 to 2 coats of any nail polish you want! I chose Sally Hansen’s Insta-dry nail color in the shade ‘Expresso’. I absolutely love this nail polish. The shape of the brush is more rounded, allowing you to easily glide the nail polish on without making any mistakes. I only used one coat because it is so pigmented that it didn’t need an extra coat. Let the nail polish dry for around 10-15 minutes. If you chose an already matte nail polish, skip the next step.

Step 3: Apply a matte top coat

After my nail polish dried, I applied Sally Hansen’s Big Matte Top Coat to my nails. One coat of this is all you need to get that beautiful matte look.

Step 4: Dot, dot and away!

I hope you bent the bobby pin open before painting your nails! Trying to bend open a bobby pin is basically impossible with wet nail polish. Have someone else open it for you if you forgot. I used a bobby pin for this nail tutorial because they make the perfect sized dots. If you have an actual nail dotting tool, feel free to use it!

I found an old, thick piece of paper and poured out some OPI Clear Top Coat. I then started dotting my nails in no particular pattern, creating a quick and easy nail design!
