Here is one of my newest custom paintings I did for a friend. I haven’t painted in a very long time so I was a little unsure how it would turn out. Before painting, I thought what kind of technique I should use. I then remembered a fun technique my high school art teacher taught me. You lay down one color and then add other colors over it creating more dimension and depth. I first went with a bright orange which looked like a dark burnt orange on the canvas due to the color contrast of the blue background. I then laid down various colors ranging from brown to a sunny yellow. When I finished the painting, I was very happy with the results. I’m happy I learned such a great technique from a great teacher. This teacher I’m talking about won “Art Teacher of the Year” this year and boy did she deserve it! Anyways, It was a lot of fun to paint this sunflower.
